Luís Cabral defends centralisation of emergency line to improve service rendered to the Azorean population
The Regional Secretary for Health jointly analysed with the Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister of Internal Administration the possibility of centralising the assistance of the emergency line (112) in order to improve the interaction with the emergency services of the Azores Regional Civil Protection and Fire Service.
"We aim to better serve citizens by providing an integrated response to 112 calls by PSP (Public Safety Police), which will respond to police cases and refer other situations to the Medical Emergency Triage, carried out by nurses, or to Civil Protection Triage, which will be done by dispatchers," stated Luís Cabral at the end of the meeting with Fernando Alexandre.
At this meeting, held in Praia da Vitória on Wednesday, the Regional Secretary for Health and the Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister of Internal Affairs also assessed the status of project for the implementation of safety and emergency digital networks (SIRESP) that is being developed at a national level.
According to Luis Cabral, the Region intends become acquainted with "the way how the project will be implemented in the Azores, the participation of the Regional Government and other organisations that will use these networks."
The meeting between Luís Cabral and Fernando Alexandre took place at the end of the celebrations 14th anniversary of Azores Regional Command of PSP at the Ramo Grande Auditorium in Praia da Vitória.
