The Regional Secretary for Health praised in Angra do Heroísmo the fact that early intervention is one of the main issues of concern to Paediatricians in the Azores, stressing the work that has been developed by the Regional Government in this area.
"There are many areas where paediatricians have to intervene, other than curing the diseases or treating symptoms, since they work with children of various ages. In many cases, early intervention often plays a key role in preventing many other problems in the future," said Luís Cabral.
Speaking at the opening of 2nd Azorean Days of Paediatrics, Luís Cabral stressed the fact that this matter is addressed and discussed by health professionals in these meetings is "important for the citizens of the Azores and the Regional Government itself," insofar as it demonstrates the "commitment and dedication" to take action in an area that "deserves all the attention."
The Regional Secretary also said that, in addition to early intervention, there are other topics to be discussed at this meeting, which are "of great interest and need to be debated on a regular basis throughout their professional paths."
The 2nd Azorean Days of Paediatrics Days are jointly organised by the Friends' Association of Terceira Paediatrics and its institutional partner, the Regional Secretariat for Health.
Under this event, there will be another meeting in Horta scheduled for June 22.
