Luís Cabral says that mental health can be an area of understanding between the Azores and Madeira

The Regional Secretary for Health, who is visiting the Autonomous Region of Madeira, said Mental Health is one area where both autonomous regions are likely to establish a joint work, since they work "within the same model."

Luís Cabral spoke in Funchal after a visit to a mental health institution. He highlighted the "excellent way" how mental health institutions in Madeira work, stating that we may use some ideas and practices to work on this common issue.

Following the visit of the Secretary for Health of Madeira to the Azores, Luís Cabral began today a two-day visit to that Region in order to find new areas of understanding between both regions.

During his visit, both government officials will sign cooperation protocols between the Azores and Madeira in the areas of Drug Addiction, Regional Inspection of Health and Oncology Registries. These themes had already been agreed on in the visit of the Secretary of Madeira to the Azores.

The Regional Secretary for Health justified this visit as a way to find areas of understanding between both regions, according to what has been defended by the Presidents of the Azores and Madeira during Miguel Albuquerque's visit to the Azores.

"Therefore, this approach between regions is important insofar as the exchange of experience always brings some benefits for the future," said Luís Cabral.
