Maria Teresa Luciano is the new President of the Administration Board of São Miguel Island Health Unit
The Government of the Azores has appointed Maria Teresa da Silveira Bretão Machado Luciano to the position of the President of the Administration Board of São Miguel Island Health Unit from January 8.
Maria Teresa Luciano holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra. She also holds a postgraduate degree in Health and Development from the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (New University of Lisbon), where she is enrolled in a doctorate course in International Health.
In her academic training, she also holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing and International Business from ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon and a specialisation course on the Advanced Programme for Leaders of Health Institutions from the University of Navarra.
Throughout her professional career, Maria Teresa Luciano has held the position of Executive Director of the West/North Health Centres Group (2013) as well as of Amadora Health Centres Group (2014). She headed the Administration Board of Saudaçor S.A. from 2006 to 2008 and coordinated the INFARMED Generic Medicines project between 2001 and 2002.
Furthermore, she has served as Counsellor to the Director General of the Autonomous Service of Medicines and Health Equipment in Dili, Timor. She was also member of the International Department of Grupo Tecnimede, where she was responsible for the opening standards of the pharmaceutical plant specialised in the manufacturing of oncology medicines in Morocco as well as for the opening of Tecnimede in Colombia.
Until September 2017, she has held the position of Member of the Administration Board of the Hospital Centre of Algarve.
Maria Teresa Luciano succeeds Fernanda Prates, who resigned at her request in October 2017.
