Regional Health Council meets Wednesday to analyse Healthy Eating Programme and measures to combat alcohol consumption
The Regional Secretary for Health, Rui Luís, will chair the meeting of the Regional Health Council in Angra do Heroísmo next Wednesday, December 6, which will highlight the Regional Healthy Eating Programme and measures to reduce alcohol consumption.
The meeting will also analyse the Interim Evaluation Report of the Regional Health Plan, the Health Training Plan, the humanisation of health services, in addition to promoting a reflection of the future of the post-2020 Cohesion Policy on strategic areas for health.
This is the second meeting of the Regional Health Council this year, after having resumed its activity in March.
The Regional Health Council is made up of 26 councillors, including representatives of professional associations, unions, patients' associations, "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" (social institution) and the University of the Azores.
The Regional Secretary for Health stressed that this is a fundamental advisory body in the definition and assessment of health policies.
In this regard, Rui Luís considers that the Regional Health Council should be consulted frequently.
Established in 2010, the Regional Health Council is responsible for making proposals and recommendations as well as for issuing opinions on matters related to health and the fight against dependencies, namely the approval of plans and programmes.
