Rui Luís starts on Flores round of meetings with Island Health Units throughout the archipelago
After several meetings held in the beginning of the legislative period with the heads of Island Health Units, the Regional Health Secretary started a new round of meetings with the administration boards of Island Health Units.
"It is about assessing the first eight months of office and joint work," said Rui Luís, who spoke at the end of a meeting with the Administration Board of Flores Island Health Unit.
Speaking to journalists, the Secretary for Health revealed that a solution has already been found to fill in the vacancy for doctor and President of the Administration Board of Corvo Island Health Unit.
"This week, we are going to announce who will be the new doctor to work on Corvo Island," Rui Luís said, thanking the contribution provided by the doctors from Flores Island Health Unit to Corvo, following the death of Dr. Adelino Dias.
"It was they who, during a month, have assured the provision of medical services on the island of Corvo and this should be taken into consideration," stressed the government official.
At this meeting, Rui Luís became acquainted with the situation regarding the awarding of the contract work for the improvement of Santa Cruz das Flores Health Centre.
"Nothing like seeing "on spot" the needs that exist regarding this intervention to perceive the works to be carried out by the contractor from the time the work begins, even because there are structural problems to correct," said the government official.
The work, with an estimated budget of 1.3 million Euros, is awaiting the approval of the Court of Auditors to start the intervention.
The planned refurbishment works include improvements in the Emergency Service, with a specific area for the "Manchester Screening," the remodelling of the telecommunications network and the installation of an automatic fire detection system.
