Angra do Heroísmo ,  October 22, 2015

"Telemedicine is one of the key areas for the Regional Health Service," says Luís Cabral

The Regional Secretary for Health stressed today the need to reflect on telemedicine since it "is of the key areas for the Regional Health Service" and it should be "regarded as such by all professionals."

Luís Cabral spoke at the opening session of the 1st Telemedicine Meeting of the Regional Health Service taking place in Angra do Heroísmo, stressing that we should "regard telemedicine as the future of the Regional Health Service."

The Secretary for Health conveyed to health professionals the relevance of this project and its development in the Region by "increasing the accessibility of patients to specialty consultations as well as the quality and safety of response in various areas, and even in the efficiency of service."

Luís Cabral emphasised once again several telemedicine projects that are being developed in the Azores and the benefits they bring to the service, justifying the holding of this meeting as a way to raise the awareness of professionals to the added value brought by this technology in the Regional Health Service and the prospects that "it will be a significant advantage in the future."

The 1st Regional Telemedicine Meeting of the Regional Health Service is an initiative of Saudaçor, SA. The event takes place today at the Angra do Heroísmo Cultural and Congress Centres and is attended by several national and regional health professionals, who will address the experiences of the Regional and National Health Service in telemedicine.
