Terceira Health Unit concludes quality accreditation process

The Regional Secretary for Health presided over the delivery of the Quality Accreditation Certifications issued by the Directorate General of Health to the Praia da Vitória and Angra do Heroísmo Health Centres. He stressed that the promotion and assurance of quality as well as the continuous improvement of health services should be a "must" for all those who dedicate their professional life to public service," namely in health."

"Thanks to the commitment of all professionals, we can invest in the continuous improvement of care provided to the population, which helps us to increasingly consolidate a culture of overall quality of services," said Luís Cabral. The government official praised the commitment of the professionals of Terceira Island Health Unit that have made this accreditation a reality.

The Regional Secretary stressed that the Regional Government is "proud" to see that the challenge launched to Island Health Units in the beginning of this term to begin their accreditation process has been fulfilled.

"We believe that this official and public recognition of the quality of accredited health services increases confidence of Azorean citizens in the services provided in this unit and, thus, in their Regional Health Service," said the government official.

In his speech, the Regional Secretary defended the need to continue working to maintain or improve the accreditation and ensure the certification of other regional health units with the aim of "providing quality that all Azoreans deserve and the conditions that health professionals require."

"So, we will make the Regional Health Service a national service of reference in terms of health promotion," said Luís Cabral.
