The Regional Director for Housing signed Monday contracts with nine families in the municipality of Nordeste, S. Miguel Island, for the allocation of support for the recovery of degraded housing, an overall investment of 127 thousand Euros.
Orlando Goulart visited the homes of families who will benefit from the Regional Government's support, which will improve the housing conditions of 21 people.
While in Nordeste, the Regional Director also promoted an information session on support measures for the rehabilitation of degraded housing aimed at local authorities and the heads of local Private Social Solidarity Institutions.
This investment in the rehabilitation of the regional housing stock follows the signing of contracts last week by the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity on the island of São Miguel, representing an overall investment over 800 thousand Euros that will cover sixty families.
The investment of the Regional Government in housing support already reaches about 10 million Euros in the current legislative period. The improvement of the housing conditions of Azorean families is one of the main priorities of the Regional Government.
On the island of São Miguel, this aid is the last to be granted under the previous legislation in force, Regional Legislative Decree 6/2002/A, which is followed by the recently approved "Renovated Home, Inhabited Home" programme. Next month, the Government will grant the remaining aid, amounting to over 150 thousand Euros, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, covering 13 families.
