Regional Government allocates over half a million Euros for recovery of degraded housing on São Miguel
The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity, allocated today a package of support for the rehabilitation of degraded housing in the 16 villages of the six municipalities on São Miguel Island. The support amounts to over a half a million Euros.
"It will be distributed by16 villages throughout the island of São Miguel, benefitting 129 people," said Andreia Cardoso, who spoke at the end of the ceremony held in Ponta Delgada. In this regard, she stressed the importance that the Regional Government attaches to support programme for the recovery of degraded housing.
"This is a support measure that has been channelling several resources over the last years as we believe that it is important for people to stay in their area of residence, where they have family ties," said the Regional Secretary.
Andreia Cardoso recalled that, since the beginning of this legislative period, the Regional Directorate for Housing has already allocated 4.5 million Euros, which were distributed by various support programmes. According to her, "it is fundamental that we all know the investment that is being carried out."
The support now granted is intended for the rehabilitation of degraded housing, providing the 39 beneficiary families with safety, health and access conditions that will guarantee them a better quality of life.
