Better energy solutions generate added value for institutions' financial conditions, says Regional Director for Social Solidarity
The Regional Director for Social Solidarity stated in Angra do Heroísmo that energy savings generate added value for improving the financial conditions of Social Solidarity Institutions in the Azores.
Paulo Fontes spoke on the sidelines of a visit to Nossa Senhora do Livramento, an institution that received financial support from the Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity for the acquisition of better energy solutions. On the occasion, he restated the institution's commitment to improving its energy efficiency performance.
The Regional Director highlighted the Energy Efficiency programme in Private Social Solidarity Institutions - Azores, an initiative of the Regional Secretariats for Social Solidarity and Energy, Environment and Tourism. The main goal is to promote energy efficiency and the reduction of electricity consumption in the Private Social Solidarity Institutions of the archipelago.
"In this context, the Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity has decided to support the Nossa Senhora do Livramento Brotherhood in the acquisition of two heat pumps as the use of this type of equipment is in line the goals set out in the Regional Government's programme," said Paulo Fontes.
"The replacement of the existing boiler by a renewable energy system, in addition to generating considerable monthly savings in water heating costs, will also improve the comfort of children and young people attending this institution," said the Regional Director.
