In the context of the celebrations of the International Day of Older Persons and European Year for Active Ageing, the Regional Director for Solidarity and Social Security will promote a conference under the "Active ageing and solidarity between generations" to take place at Calheta Youth Hostel, São Jorge, on September 29 at 4:30 PM. The event is organised in partnership with the University of the Azores and the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Calheta.
This initiative is intended to provide information on the personal dimension of ageing with the aim of bringing a new perspective on strategies to optimise psychological well-being, self-fulfilment and active ageing strategies. The conference will also address the importance of relationships between generations in terms of emotional development, particularly for children, focusing on the role played by parents and grandparents.
The event, which is addressed at the population in general, will be attended by Carlos Amaral Dias, university professor, psychoanalyst and president of Miguel Torga Higher Institute, and Teresa Medeiros, professor and provost for Lifelong Learning at the University of the Azores.
