The Regional Campaign "Men Against Domestic Violence" started in the Azores today with an advertising spot that is intended to raise awareness for this issue.
The initiative is promoted by the Centre of Initiatives for the Prevention and Combat to Domestic Violence of the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Praia da Vitória with the support of the Regional Secretariat for Labour and Social Solidarity, through the Regional Directorate for Solidarity and Social Security.
Presented today the Regional Director of Solidarity and Social Security, Natércia Gaspar, this campaign includes several regional public figures, including Ricardo Moura, Rui Goulart, José Maria Pacheco, Hélder Medeiros, Roberto Borges and Pedro Pauleta, who will give voice to the fight against the scourge of domestic violence. .
According to Natércia Gaspar, the fact that the campaign is fronted by male public figures, "who are admired and cherished throughout the archipelago," will play a key role in contributing to the deconstruction of stereotypes and gender bias that still persist in the male community." This initiative also intends to promote "human dignity and the fundamental human rights of domestic violence victims, who are still mostly women."
Recalling the successful implementation of the Regional Plan to Prevent and Combat Domestic Violence, the Regional Director said the promotion of this campaign and the synergies created around its development already evidenced "the success of this initiative." In fact, the Regional Plan is "a paradigmatic example of the joint action taken by various sectors, in particular the social and business sectors, and the society in general to carry out a mission that concerns to us all!"
The audiovisual production company Amuleto was in charge of the creation and production of the advertising spot "Men Against Domestic Violence," providing a contribution to the implementation of a series of initiatives that are being carried out by in the Region under the Regional Plan to Prevent and Combat Domestic Violence. This fact was praised by Natércia Gaspar, who considered it "an example of corporate social responsibility that embodies the spirit of generosity and citizenship, which is particularly meritorious in these difficult times."
On the occasion, the Regional Director also praised the Centre of Initiatives for the Prevention and Combat to Domestic Violence of the "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Praia da Vitória and the public figures who participated in the campaign for their contribution to the prevention and fight against domestic violence.
