Regional Government launches short film competition directed to young people for prevention of dating violence
The Government of the Azores will launch a short film competition under the Regional Campaign for the prevention of Dating Violence. It focuses on health relations between young people and is addressed at young people aged between 14 and 18.
The initiative will be launched on March 28. It is promoted by the Regional Directorate for Social Solidarity in partnership with Burra de Milho Cultural Association and the Centre for Prevention Initiatives and Combat to Domestic Violence and counts on the collaboration of the regional directorates for Youth and for Science and Technology. This is a concerted effort that aims to raise the awareness of young people and society in general for the problem of violence in relationships between young people.
This theme, developed in collaboration with the regional directorates for Education and for Sports, will also be addressed during the inter-island phase of the School Sports Games.
Likewise, the partner entities of the 2nd Regional Plan for Prevention and Combat to Domestic and Gender Violence will develop awareness actions aimed at students attending middle school, junior high school and secondary school.
These actions will take the shape of a treasure hunt. They will take place on the islands of São Miguel, São Jorge, Pico, Flores and Graciosa over the months of April and May.
The Regional Campaign for the Prevention of Dating Violence, through the collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, will also be featured at the 13th edition of the National Defence Day. During the event, it will develop awareness-raising campaigns among young participants from all islands of the archipelago between July 22 and 25.
Being aware that networking is a vital condition for the success of these initiatives, we will continue to invest in the development of strategies to continue improving and ensuring the full adaptation of measures and structures to prevent and combat this problem in the Region.
