Ana Paula Marques Meets Partners of Local Centre for the Prevention and Fight Against Domestic Violence
The Regional Secretary of Labour and Social Solidarity met in Madalena, Pico today with the Local Centre for the Prevention and Fight Against Domestic Violence and with the respective partners to evaluate their activity.
On the occasion, Ana Paula Marques stated that she was pleased with the results and remembered that the Response and Support Service for Victims of Domestic Violence is already operating on that island and that it is an entity that supports the intervention of the local centre.
As she explained, this service equally covers the Economic Support and Social Programme for Women, which targets all victims that wish to really change their life and break away from violence.
The implementation of local centres for the prevention and fight against domestic violence is part of the Regional Plan for the Prevention and Fight Against Domestic Violence and covers the islands of Santa Maria, Graciosa, São Jorge, Flores and Pico where there was not an organised response for this problem at the island or municipality level.
The main goals of these support tools are the fight against domestic violence by responding, following and referring victims of domestic violence and the prevention of this phenomenon by training, raising awareness and educating the community, especially the most important targets.
