Ana Paula Marques opens renewal works of the social centre for the São Brás elderly
The Regional Secretary for Labour and Social Solidarity opened the renewal works of the social centre for the São Brás elderly in the municipality of Ribeira Grande on Thursday night. The works were supported by the Regional Government in the amount of 50 thousand Euros.
For Ana Paula Marques, it is an investment that, in addition to enhancing the existing space, provides better conditions for the elderly who attend that leisure centre.
On the occasion, the Regional Secretary highlighted the importance of social centres for the elderly as a way of “tackling loneliness,” adding that day, night and social centres are “social responses” to invert this situation.
According to her, “the value of a society is measured by the assistance provided to children and the elderly.”
At the end, Ana Paula Marques addressed words of appraisal to all São Brás inhabitants and highlighted the “dedication” and “commitment” of the Mayor of the Ribeira Grande City Hall in the implementation of that investment.
