Azorean Government allocates 26 dwellings in Canada do Breado Neighbourhood in Angra do Heroísmo
Following the public draw of the apartments to be allocated to the applicants admitted to the public housing tender for Canada do Breado Neighbourhood, the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity signed today the sublease contracts with purchase option with 26 families.
"Today, the Government signed 26 contracts with 26 families, corresponding to a monthly investment of 10,600 Euros, that is, more than 120,000 Euros per year that will allow these families to have access to housing," stressed Andreia Cardoso. The government official reminded that the Government's investment represents annual savings of 28 thousand Euros for Azorean families.
These dwellings, located in the village of Santa Luzia, municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, are leased by the Region to the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation, which, in turn, are subleased to families.
The Regional Secretary stressed that the Azorean Government provides a range of measures to ensure the access to housing in accordance with the characteristics of each household. According to her, the goal is that "an increasing number of families may have access to adequate housing, either through this specific programme or through the rehabilitation of the house they already own or even through lease incentive programmes."
The subsidy granted to families varies between 10% and 35% of the monthly lease supported by the Region, standing on average at 22%.
On May 29, the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity signed 11 sublease contracts for one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments in the same neighbourhood, following a tender opened earlier this year with the same purpose.
