The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity presided over the opening of the renovated Elderly Support Centre in Maia, S. Miguel Island. The public investment of 730 thousand Euros was aimed at the improvement and expansion of this service, which now has capacity for 18 users.
"It is a good investment," Andreia Cardoso said, adding that it is "a good investment in the results it provides, a good investment in the goals it aims to meet and a good investment for all those to whom the investment addressed, not only for those who are here today but also for those who will benefit from it."
In the specific case of the elderly, Andreia Cardoso stressed that, since the beginning of this legislative period, the Government of the Azores has been working hard to strengthen the resources available as well as the capacity and quality of responses in order to address needs in this area on all islands of the archipelago.
In his speech, the Regional Secretary called on the institutions for the need to make a better of infrastructures and leverage the investments that have been made so that they can increasingly meet the needs of those to whom they are directed.
By late morning, Andreia Cardoso participated in the socialisation promoted by Free Time Occupation Centres of the Region that took place in Ribeira Quente. The initiative, now in its second edition, was promoted by the Azores Social Security Institute, which, among other activities, organised the launch of soap bubbles by youngsters in several municipalities of the Region.
