Establishment of new Family and Juvenile Court in Praia da Vitória is good news for the Azores, says Andreia Cardoso
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity considered that the amendment to the Law on the Organisation of the Judicial System, recently approved by the National Assembly, which provides for the establishment of a Court for the Enforcement of Penalties in the Azores. According to her, this "is a very important contribution to a more effective social reintegration of the Azoreans in this situation."
Andreia Cardoso also welcomed the approval by the Council of Ministers of a decree-law amending the judicial chart and providing for the establishment of Family and Juvenile Court and a Labour Court.
"The National Government's decision ensures a more adequate response to families and, above all, to Azorean children and young people in order to streamline procedures and improve the access of citizens to justice," said Andreia Cardoso. On the occasion, she reminded that there was only a Family and Juvenile Court and a Labour Court in the Judicial District of the Azores, both on the island of São Miguel.
"The establishment of a second court on the island of Terceira, with competence in Family, Juvenile and Labour matters, represents the accomplishment of a legitimate aspiration of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, to which the National Government has timely and adequately responded," noted Andreia Cardoso.
