Government of the Azores allocates half a million Euros for the recovery of degraded housing on São Miguel
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity signed today in Ponta Delgada a document awarding support for the recovery of degraded housing and homes affected by termites as well as for the construction of dwellings. This measure implemented by the Azorean Government covers 33 households and represents an investment over half a million Euros.
Andreia Cardoso said the recently authorised support, “which amounts to 524 thousand Euros,” contribute to “improving the safety and health conditions of 33 beneficiary families.”
“We are talking about 107 people who will benefit from these improvements in the five municipalities of São Miguel Island, namely Ribeira Grande, Povoação, Nordeste, Ponta Delgada and Lagoa,” Andreia Cardoso stressed, adding that the support cover families residing in 21 villages.
In her speech, the Regional Secretary stressed that the support granted by the Azorean Government serves a double purpose. On the one hand, it improves the housing conditions of families and, on the other hand, local construction companies will “seize this opportunity.”
The Secretary for Social Solidarity reminded on the occasion that the support awarded to the recovery and construction of housing since the beginning of this year amounts to almost two million Euros, benefitting more than 150 families throughout the Region.
