Government of the Azores already invested 1.8 million Euros this year in urban regeneration
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity revealed in Angra do Heroísmo that the Government of the Azores invested this year 1.8 million Euros in support for the rehabilitation of degraded houses and buildings infested by termites, benefiting more than one hundred and fifty families.
Andreia Cardoso spoke at the ceremony for the allocation of support to 33 families residing in the municipalities of Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória, which represent a global amount of 338 thousand Euros. She pointed out that, since the beginning of this legislative period, these support measures have benefited 160 families on Terceira Island, corresponding to a total amount of 1.7 million Euros.
In her speech, the Regional Secretary also stressed that the support allocated by the Government of the Azores in the area of housing is not limited to the rehabilitation of degraded buildings, recalling the investments made in Terra Chã and Joaquim Alves neighbourhoods on Terceira Island.
According to Andreia Cardoso, the Government has invested "more than 8.5 million Euros in this term to conclude the rehabilitation process of these neighbourhoods."
The Regional Secretary also stressed the importance of these investments to improve the quality of life of Azoreans, but also for the development of the regional construction sector.
