Government of the Azores has invested 4.2 million Euros in the rehabilitation and redevelopment of the regional housing stock
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stated in Ribeira Grande that the procedures launched by the Regional Government since the beginning of the current legislative period exceed 4.2 million Euros. These investments are aimed at the rehabilitation of the dwellings that make up the regional housing stock.
“One of the Regional Government's priorities for its housing policies is to maintain the regional housing stock in good conditions," stressed Andreia Cardoso. In this regard, the government official added that the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity, through the Regional Directorate for Housing, has carried out several procedures for the rehabilitation and construction of nearly one hundred houses throughout the archipelago, representing an investment over four million Euros.
According to the Regional Secretary, 78% of this investment corresponds to works already concluded, ongoing works or contract works already awarded, while the remaining 22% represent recently started procedures.
Andreia Cardoso stressed that the Regional Directorate for Housing, "through these small contract works by direct adjustment, maintains a dynamics that is not only important for families, but also for construction companies."
In this context, the government official assured this dynamics will be maintained. By the end of the current legislative period, the Government expects to carry out interventions amounting to one million Euros for the rehabilitation of housing stock of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
The Regional Secretary's visit to the dwellings located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande was intended to assess the interventions that are being carried out by local construction companies.
These interventions are aimed at the structural reinforcement and improvement of the safety and health conditions of buildings and families.
