Government of the Azores promotes training course on Sheltered Children and Youth
The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity, through the Azores Social Security Institute, promotes seven training sessions on “Study Habits and Methods." These initiatives are directed to the teams of Children and Youth Shelter Homes on the islands of São Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Pico.
This initiative falls within a more comprehensive and diversified annual training plan prepared for the gradual and specialised qualification of professionals working at these Homes.
The training course on "Study Habits and Methods" is directed to the educational teams of Children and Youth Shelter Homes and aims to promote the acquisition of skills for adequate support to the schooling of children and young people living in homes.
The training is intended to recognise the importance of the acquisition of study habits and methods by children/young people. It is based on the development of study plans, test schedules and activities for all children/young people in order to optimise time management, in addition to learning new ways of organising the study space and supporting the development of skills for the analysis of written information.
Last year, three training courses took place on S. Miguel, covering 24 trainees. The number of participants is expected to triple in 2016.
The first two editions will start in April on the island of São Miguel, while the remaining sessions will be promoted from September on the islands of Terceira, Faial and Pico in accordance with the availability of the school calendar and the teams involved.
