Government of the Azores to become part of international cooperation network in Childhood and Youth
The Government of the Azores signed in Ponta Delgada a protocol for the creation of the Atlantis Transnational Network, an inter-institutional, trans-regional and transnational cooperation structure dedicated to the exchange of technical information and the implementation of socio-educational intervention programmes in Childhood and Youth.
During a ceremony held through videoconferencing with Azorean, Galician and Balearic entities that make up this network, these entities made the commitment to provide support in technical cooperation as well as in the active exchange of learning methodologies and socio-educational intervention, which are important in the training of professionals working in psycho-educational, socio-familiar and community areas.
The Atlantis Transnational Networks also has the purpose to define new scientific research study projects focused on interventions process to tackle social exclusion, namely in the prevention of school failure.
The network comprises the Regional Directorates for Social Solidarity and Education, the Azores Social Security Institute, Rabo de Peixe Basic Education School, "Santa Casa da Misericórdia" of Ribeira Grande and the Family Therapy and Systemic Intervention Centre.
As for international partners, the network includes the Instituto Galego de Xestión para o 3.º Sector – IGAXES3, Fundación Meniños, Instituto de Ensino Secundário do Milladoiro and Fundació Natzaret.
