It is essential to continue improving working conditions in family intervention, says Andreia Cardoso
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stated in Ponta Delgada that the Government of the Azores considers "essential" to continue improving the working conditions in systemic and family intervention.
Andreia Cardoso spoke during a visit to the works of the new headquarters of the Centre for Family Therapy and Systemic Intervention (CTFIS). In this regard, she stressed the Government's satisfaction "to ensure that the work carried out by this institution, which has yielded good results, will have a new space suited with the appropriate conditions to meet the new requirements."
The construction of the new CTFIS facilities represents a public investment of about 700 thousand Euros. It will create better working conditions in the areas of family therapy, systemic intervention and family integration, being a family meeting point and a centre for the monitoring of deviant behaviour.
"With the new facility, it will be possible to create an integrated solution that gathers all the intervention activities developed by CTFIS in a single building, always bearing in mind the perspective of future reinforcement or projection of the current and future functions of this organisation," said Andreia Cardoso.
The Government of the Azores has established numerous partnerships with the Centre for Family Therapy and Systemic Intervention for the implementation and development of projects intended to prevent and combat domestic violence. This is the case of "With You" programme, aimed at the rehabilitation of domestic violence offenders, and "Impact" programme; the latter focuses on the effects of domestic violence on children and young people and falls within the Regional Strategy for Prevention and Combat to Sexual Abuse of children and youth.
The Region, through the implementation of these programmes, now has specialised resources to take action in social issues," whose fight is a priority for the Azorean Government," Andreia Cardoso stressed, adding that this intervention "has already received national and international recognition for its innovative nature and the results achieved."
