New funding model reinforces funds for Graciosa's social institutions by 6%, says Piedade Lalanda
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity revealed today that the funds allocated to social institutions on Graciosa will be reinforced by 6% through a cooperation protocol to be signed with the Social Security under the new funding model for Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) and "Santas da Misericórdia."
Piedade Lalanda stated that in the case of Graciosa, all institutions have signed the cooperation agreements under the new funding model. According to her, over 70 percent of regional institutions have already signed them.
"This process has been followed by the Social Security Institute of the Azores that has met with all IPSS and 'Casas da Misericórdia' in a spirit of cooperation and dialogue," stressed the government official.
Piedade Lalanda also reiterated that this funding model embodies a sense of "justice and equity" by promoting a "better redistribution of financial resources as well as increased effectiveness and efficiency" on the part of institutions.
The Regional Secretary spoke after a visit to the elderly homes of the "Santas Casa da Misericórdia" of Vila da Praia and Santa Cruz da Graciosa during the Government's statutory visit to that island, where she met with the heads of social institutions and socialised with the elderly living in these homes.
