Regional Government already signed more than 50 agreements with Local Authorities and IPSS for the recovery of degraded housing
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stated today that the Government of the Azores, through the Regional Directorate for Housing, has already signed more than fifty partnership contracts with local authorities and social solidarity institutions in the current legislative period, representing an investment over 1.6 million Euros. It has contributed to the improvement of housing conditions of families with fewer economic resources.
Andreia Cardoso spoke during the signing ceremony of a cooperation protocol with "Casa do Povo" of Arrifes for the recovery of degraded houses belonging to 34 families living in this village, which corresponds to a public investment of around 77 thousand Euros.
"These are minor interventions but will ensure safety and health conditions of houses," the Regional Secretary said, adding that they ensure "the dignity that the Azoreans deserve in terms of housing conditions."
Like other partnerships implemented by the Regional Directorate for Housing already concluded or ongoing, the "Casa do Povo" of Arrifes will manage the governmental support and allocate some of its own funds as well as to promote the participation of families in the improvement process of their homes.
"These interventions, in addition to directly benefiting families, also benefit small construction companies, which are called to collaborate with the Government and the "Casa do Povo" of Arrifes in these interventions," said Andreia Cardoso.
