Regional Government authorises financial support amounting to one million Euros for the renewal of degraded housing
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stressed in Ponta Delgada the importance of the social support provided by the Regional Government, noting that the support authorised today for the renewal of degraded housing on S. Miguel, Terceira, Faial and Graciosa amounts to one million Euros.
Speaking at the signing ceremony of these support measures, Andreia Cardoso considered that in this difficult period for the management of household budgets, "the Regional Government plays a fundamental role" in tackling the austerity imposed on families with the awarding of social support, namely in the area of housing.
The support granted today is intended to the recovery of degraded housing as well as to the construction and expansion and acquisition of dwellings.
Overall, the authorised support will cover 243 people, of whom 56 are children and 31 are elderly individuals, also including citizens with disabilities, single-parent families and isolated households.
"Despite the tax cuts, there will not be any reduction in social support. This is a point of honour of the Regional Government towards the fulfilment of the commitment made to the Azorean people," said the Regional Secretary.
Since the beginning of the current legislative period, the Government has authorised over 2,400 support measures under several housing programmes, representing a total investment of about 20 million Euros.
