Regional Government committed to extend social responses to the elderly, says Andreia Cardoso
The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity, Andreia Cardoso, restated today in Altares (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo) the Regional Government's commitment to extend social responses to the elderly, particularly those based on a proximity approach.
"The Regional Government has already created several proximity homes in the parish of residence of the elderly, thus providing an adequate response to the needs of the elderly population in the Azores," said Andreia Cardoso.
The Regional Secretary spoke on the sidelines of a visit to the construction works of a home for 21 elderly in the village of Altares, a global investment over one million Euros.
Following the policy for the development of social responses based on a proximity approach, Andreia Cardoso reminded that the construction of more homes is currently under public procedures.
The government official also announced the provision of other differentiated social responses, especially in the villages of São Sebastião, Doze Ribeiras and Cinco Ribeiras on the island of Terceira.
