Regional Government creates single Social Security Institute to ensure economic efficiency
The Government of the Azores announced on Friday the end of both Social Security institutes by creating a single institute, which will be designated as Azores Social Security Institute (ISSA). This measure meets the Government's goal of ensuring a greater economic efficiency.
With the creation of ISSA, the Government led by Vasco Cordeiro intends to optimise operational synergies, increase the effectiveness of services, make a better use of human and financial resources and avoid duplication of administrative structures.
Approved by the Council of the Government, which met on the island of Corvo, this decision dissolves the Institute for the Social Development of the Azores - IDSA and the Social Security Financial Management Institute - IGSSA, and establishes the creation of the Azores Social Security Institute (ISSA).
ISSA will be based on Terceira and will enter into operation on January 1, 2014, the beginning of the next financial year.
