Regional Government has invested over 8.8 million Euros in the rehabilitation of degraded housing
The Government of the Azores has already authorised an investment over 8.8 million Euros in the rehabilitation and recovery of degraded housing in this legislative period, thus improving the safety and living condition of 797 households living in the Region.
Of this amount, more than 6.6 million Euros were allocated to families, either directly or through the establishment of partnerships with Village Councils and Private Social Solidarity Institutions. This support measure has already helped 688 households, i.e., more than two thousand Azoreans, of whom 35% are elderly and children.
With the launch of procurement and direct adjustment procedures, the Government already supported the rehabilitation of 109 houses and individual properties that make the Region's housing stock.
These works, which can go from minor repairs to full interventions, depending on the needs identified, represent an investment of 2.2 million Euros. They also contribute to the revitalisation of the regional construction sector.
A total of 151 families have been supported since the beginning of this year, which represents an overall investment over 1.8 million Euros.
The support measures for housing recovery are fundamental to the preservation of building heritage and contribute to the maintenance of the population in their areas of residence.
