Regional Government invests 1 million Euros in remodelling of Mãe de Deus Home on São Miguel Island
The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity signed today a Value-Investment cooperation agreement with Mãe de Deus - Social Solidarity Association in the amount of one million Euros for the remodelling of the nursery and the children and youth home run by this institution.
Andreia Cardoso stressed that this intervention will ensure "quality installation conditions as well as comfort conditions in the support to this age group, covering a universe of about 100 people."
"It represents a considerable allocation of resources that the Regional Government has channelled to this purpose," the Regional Secretary said, adding that this investment is carried out to "ensure that foster children may have better conditions, such as the children attending daycare at this institution."
In her speech, the Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stressed that "educational stability is important for all children and young people, but it is especially important for institutionalised children."
"Our commitment in childhood and youth has been more than clear, consistent and prolific," the government official said, noting that "in this area, as in all others, it is not limited to infrastructures; quite the contrary."
The work for the remodelling of this infrastructure, whose project was presented today, is included in the Regional Public Works Charter and has an estimated completion period of 12 months.
