The Regional Secretariat for Social Solidarity, through the Regional Directorate for Housing, will invest 830 thousand Euros in the construction of new houses as well as in the rehabilitation of infrastructures and houses belonging to the regional housing stock.
The Government will build six new houses in the villages of Fajã de Cima, Relva, Água de Pau and Água D'Alto on the island of São Miguel and in the village of São Brás on the island of Terceira, representing an investment of 570 thousand Euros.
The planned investment also provides for a sum of 117 thousand Euros for the rehabilitation of infrastructures in São Brás neighbourhood on Terceira and 143 thousand Euros to be invested in the recovery of houses belonging to the regional housing stock on São Miguel.
By the end of this year, the Government will also begin procedures for the construction of new infrastructures and houses on the island of São Miguel.
This initiative complies with the goal set by the Regional Government to provide housing for families with difficulties in accessing bank financing, with special emphasis on young couples, while promoting the rehabilitation and preservation of the housing stock infrastructures of the Autonomous Region of the Azores.
