Regional Government supports more than 50 families in the recovery of degraded housing on São Miguel Island
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity signed today contracts in several municipalities of São Miguel Island for the recovery of degraded housing and the control of termite infestations, involving fifty families. These measures correspond to an overall investment of 680 thousand Euros.
Andreia Cardoso visited three municipalities so that the families could sign the support contracts in their areas of residence, having presided over the ceremonies authorising the granting of support in Vila Franca do Campo, Lagoa and Ponta Delgada.
"This investment in the rehabilitation of the regional housing stock will benefit about 150 people in a total of 50 families: 10 in Vila Franca do Campo, 11 in Lagoa and 29 in Ponta Delgada," said the Regional Secretary.
Andreia Cardoso added that she will sign "next week another nine contracts to support the rehabilitation of degraded housing in the municipality of Nordeste. This 127 thousand-Euro investment will improve the housing conditions of 21 people."
Overall, "these support measures corresponding to an investment over 800 thousand Euros, which will benefit about 60 families on the island of São Miguel," sad the government official.
Andreia Cardoso stated that the Regional Government's investment in housing support is close to reaching 10 million Euros, "which represents a clear investment in the constant improvement of the regional housing stock."
"This fact evidences that the Regional Government maintains the investment in improving the housing conditions of Azorean families as one of its priorities" said the Regional Secretary.
Besides highlighting the support granted by municipalities to the families in the rehabilitation of degraded housing, Andreia Cardoso also mentioned that, with the new Regional Legislative Decree approving the "Renovated Home, Inhabited Home" programme, already published," this support is the last granted under the previous legislation in force: Regional Legislative Decree 6/2002/A.
