Regional Government's support to recovery of degraded housing already covered more than a thousand families
The Regional Secretary for Solidarity revealed today in Santa Cruz das Flores that the support to the recovery of degraded housing in the Azores already covered more than a thousand families.
Andreia Cardoso spoke at ceremony for the authorisation of the new support measures during the statutory visit to the island of Flores She stressed that public investment in this area is "substantial," already exceeding 10 million Euros.
"Improving the conditions of dwellings and providing them with safety, hygiene and comfort are the main goals of the Regional Government for this area, which are embodied in the implementation of initiatives designed to recover existing buildings rather than building new ones. This strategy contributes to the preservation of our cultural identity and the legacy our ancestors, while combating the degradation of buildings," said Andreia Cardoso.
The support authorised today covers 21 people living in the municipalities of Santa Cruz and Lajes on the island of Flores, amounting to around 136 thousand Euros.
During this legislative period, the Government has authorised 46 support measures amounting to 583 thousand Euros in the various forms of housing support programmes on the island of Flores.
