Regional Network of Social Infrastructures provides over 126 vacancies in day nurseries in the municipality of Ponta Delgada in 2016
The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity stressed that the social responses presented this week will provide over 126 vacancies in day nurseries in the municipality of Ponta Delgada already next year. The government official spoke at the presentation of the project for the construction of the day nursery of "Patronato de S. Miguel" (social solidarity institution).
"We will not only extend the coverage of the regional network on São Miguel, but, more importantly, we will extend the coverage of childcare aged children," said Andreia Cardoso. The Regional Secretary noted the Azorean Government has paid special attention to Childhood and Youth, particularly in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, where the European goals have been achieved; however, there is still a need for vacancies in social infrastructures targeted at these age groups.
The construction of the Day Nursery of "Patronato de S. Miguel" in Paim, a commitment taken by the current Regional Government, represents a public investment over two million Euros and will address the needs of 82 children.
"With the construction of this social infrastructure, the Regional Government not only fulfils a promise, but also meets an actual need of the population residing in this municipality. In fact, it will create the adequate conditions for the psycho-pedagogical and educational development of children in this community, thus improving the living conditions of families and contributing to the reconciliation of work and family life,” stated the Regional Secretary.
