The Regional Secretary for Social Solidarity visited in Ponta Delgada the remodelling works of the day nursery and shelter of Mãe de Deus Home, an investment supported by the Government of the Azores amounting to more than one million Euros. During the visit, she took the opportunity to announce that the works will be completed "soon."
The ongoing remodelling works, which are in the final phase of acquisition of equipment, will benefit more than a hundred children and young people. In this regard, Andreia Cardoso added that "all responses have already been congregated in this physical space."
Andreia Cardoso spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the visit. She stressed that this is an "important" aspect for the Government of the Azores, considering that "these responses now have much better operating conditions and this is crucial in areas as sensitive as the sheltering of children and young people."
The work included the remodelling of the day nursery and shelter for children and young people, providing them with better conditions. This is a fundamental aspect, not only for the development of infrastructures for youngsters but also for the allocation of human resources."
Andreia Cardoso also highlighted the Regional Government's commitment to the training of those who carry out their activity in this area.
"We have awarded priority status to three levels in the provision of these responses - infrastructures, allocation and increase of technical resources and training of workers - in order to ensure an increasing quality," stressed the government official.
In addition to improving the spaces in which these services are operating, the interventions also aimed to address and solve issues related to accessibility and safety.
