Social benefits, currently paid in cash, will be now paid by postal check that will be directly sent to the residence of the beneficiary. This measure will be put into effect starting this month.
The information was released on Friday by the President of the Administration Board of the Azores Institute for Social Development - Autonomous Region Public Institute (IDSA - IPRA), who urged beneficiaries to have their address updated.
According to Paula Ramos, postal checks are expected to be delivered by the CTT (postal services) to the residences of beneficiaries from Mach 6.
With this new procedure, the Azores Institute for Social Development intends to provide beneficiaries with greater convenience in order to avoid unnecessary trips to the Social Security office and ensure safety conditions in the payment of various benefits.
According to Paula Ramos, the pensions under the special Welfare scheme will continue to be paid at the Social Security office in the area of residence of pensioners.
