2 million-Euro investment in Terceira Regional Road Network this year, says Regional Director for Public Works
The Regional Director for Public Works and Communications stated on Terceira that the Regional Government will invest "about two million euros" this year in the regional road network of that island.
Frederico Sousa spoke at the signing of the contract for the construction of a retaining wall in the village of Quatro Ribeiras, municipality of Praia da Vitória, pointing out the example of this investment, which aims to reinforce road safety.
"It is worth reminding the investment and daily effort undertaken by the Regional Government, through the Regional Directorate and Public Works Services throughout the Region, in the maintenance, rehabilitation and improvement of the regional road network on all islands of the Azores," said the government official.
The contract work project was prepared by the Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works. In addition to the construction of a new retaining wall and the installation of guard rails, covering a 120 metre extension, the works include the improvement of rainwater drainage conditions in the centre of the village of Quatro Ribeiras and the expansion of the road platform.
The investment amounts to around 95 thousand Euros and has a completion period of 90 days. The contract work was awarded to the company Tecnovia – Açores, S.A..
The Regional Director stressed that the project will "enhance safety for all users as well as road traffic conditions." With this initiative, the Regional Government intends to continue the investment in the regional road network and carry out intervention s whenever necessary, thus ensuring that public infrastructures have adequate levels of safety and comfort."
