Government of the Azores launches tender for the construction of the access to Vila Franca do Campo Fishing Port
The Regional Government launched today the public tender for the construction of a new access to Vila do Franca do Campo Fishing Port on S. Miguel with a base price of 1.7 million Euros.
The road infrastructure will provide better access conditions by creating a direct way, through Avenida Europa, between the fisheries port and the Vila Franca/Ponta Delgada highway.
This investment will also improve road traffic conditions and pedestrian access in that area, including the Marina of Vila Franca do Campo.
With this intervention, the inner roads located in the village's historic centre will be used for other purposes, especially those targeted at tourism products and services.
This contract work has a completion period of nine months and includes the construction of a flyover, under which the companies operating in the area will be installed, such as tourism recreation companies in the area of nautical activities.
In addition to improving the accessibility to the fishing port, the work aims to redevelop the seafront, through the creation of pedestrian areas and a promenade over the Marina and Tagarete Fort.
The intervention also includes the installation of a new fuel station to supply the marine and the fishing port, which also improves the working conditions of fishing vessels.
