Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works joins "Senses" event promoted by IAC
The Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works, through the Regional Directorate for Public Works and Communications, joined the "Senses" initiative promoted by IAC - Child Support Institute with a view to promoting integration and social inclusion through senses as a form of communication and interaction among children.
The event took place today at the 21st Century Park in Ponta Delgada. It was organised by several partners, namely the Azores Section of ACAPO - Portuguese Association of Blind and Partially Sighted and Mindfulness Azores - Positive Psychology Personal Development. The activities were aimed at middle school students, who had the opportunity to play "Goal Ball" games, use white canes and undergo Mindfulness sessions.
The Regional Director for Public Works and Communications highlighted the importance of this initiative, defending that the 21st Century Park should continue to be the venue of community-oriented initiatives.
"This venue has several areas geared towards children, but its potential does not end there. The 21st Century Park is undoubtedly a space of excellence for families," Frederico Sousa said, adding that the park will have new space dedicated to the practice of sports activities from March.
The Regional Director also announced the intention to begin this year the redevelopment of Mata do Café wooded area in the village of Livramento, which will include the installation of outdoor recreational and sports equipment.
The event was held today under the protocol signed between the Regional Secretariat for Transport and Public Works and the Child Support Institute with a view to the revitalisation of the 21st Century Park.
