The Regional Land Transport Fund is an entity endowed with administrative and financial autonomy operating under the administration of the Regional Secretary for Transport and Public Works.
This public institute was established following the dissolution of the Regional Transport Fund with the aim of collaborating in the definition and implementation of the Government's policies to support land transport in the Autonomous Region of the Azores. It is responsible for the granting of financial support to the public passenger transport concessionaires, the funding of costs arising from the approval of fares in which the social component is verified and established, and ensuring the application of other support measures for transport and land transport companies determined by higher decision-making levels.
Also within the scope of its powers, the Regional Transport Fund cooperates with other public or private entities, establishing public-private partnerships in the area of land transport, namely in road prevention, thus contributing to the reduction of accidents on regional roads.
