Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory promotes photography contest "Geotechnics in the Azores"
The Regional Civil Engineering Laboratory (LREC), together with the Organising Committee of the 16th National Congress of Geotechnics and the Association of Amateurs Photographers of the Azores (AFAA), promotes a photography contest designated as "Geotechnics in the Azores."
The initiative aims to document what is being carried out in the Azores in the area of Geotechnics, portray the archipelago and disseminate the activities developed under the congress. It also intends to raise the awareness of all participants for the observation of geotechnical interventions and their integration in nature, in general, and landscape in particular.
Geotechnics concerns the application of scientific methods and engineering principles for the acquisition, interpretation and use of knowledge of Earth's crust materials and ground materials in order to solve engineering problems.
It is applied science with the aim of predicting the behaviour of the Earth and its various materials to make it habitable for human activities.
The contest is open to all those who are interested and runs until April 30. The information and rules on the context is available on the LREC page at www.lrec.azores.gov.pt.
