Azorean Government has invested more than 1.5 million Euros in Graciosa's road network in recent years, revealed Vítor Fraga
The Regional Secretary for Transport and Public Works revealed in Santa Cruz that the road network of Graciosa Island has been the target of an investment of over 1.5 million Euros in the last four and a half years.
Vítor Fraga spoke at the end of a visit to the improvement works of the areas adjacent to the regional roads no. 1 - 2, Barra area, and no. 3-2, Caminho da Igreja – Guadalupe. The government official pointed that the Government "has been carrying out a series of investments in the regional road network, despite all the difficulties regarding the allocation of Community funds for this type of intervention."
In this series of investments, Vítor Fraga highlighted the 17 million Euros invested "over the last four and a half years on all the islands of the Azores, especially on Graciosa, representing an investment of over 1.5 million Euros."
This project was primarily intended “to provide the road network with increased safety and better comfort conditions for all those who use it, also complying with what is one of the legal requirements, which involves restoring all the surrounding areas to regional roads," added the government official.
The project visited today by the Regional Secretary under the Government's statutory visit to Graciosa represents an investment of around 180 thousand Euros. It was carried out within 30 locations of the island's road network. The intervention was not only aimed at the paving of these areas but also at the resolution of some rainwater drainage problems, thus concluding the works."
