Azores have the quality and potentiality to overcome difficulties, says Vítor Fraga
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport considered that the Azores have the quality and potentiality in the tourism sector that allow them "to overcome difficulties."
Vítor Fraga spoke on behalf of the President of the Government of the Azores at the meeting held with Newtour - Destination Management Company held in Ponta Delgada on Saturday night. The government official conveyed his belief that the Azores will "continue to follow the same path towards the recovery of tourism flows," which have dropped as a result of the difficult economic situation.
Being tourism one of the cornerstones of the Region’s development, the Regional Secretary assured that the Azorean Government is "strongly committed to build, with all partners, a path that leads to the sustainability of the sector" and that "brings added value to the regional tourism sector."
Accordingly, the government official said that the goal is to ensure "a sustainable sector that brings added value to the companies and to the Region itself."
Victor Fraga reminded that the ambition to win is a characteristic of the Azorean people, who have always shown "willingness, determination and ambition," being used to overcome all difficulties: "some natural, other no so much."
Emphasising that the Azores Destination is characterised by its natural beauties, the Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport stressed that those who visit us should "bring emotions with them" as "people must feel the Azores."
"The Azores should be known for our hospitality, our cultural roots and our natural beauties so that we may be able provide visitors with a significant experience," Vítor Fraga stated, adding that this is important "to make people want to return and have the possibility of knowing what they had the opportunity to enjoy before."
