Azores offer increasingly favourable conditions for private investment, says Ana Cunha
The Regional Secretary for Transport and Public Works stated in Ponta Delgada that the Azores increasingly favourable conditions for private investment, which is evidenced in the opening of new business units.
Ana Cunha spoke at the opening of the commercial establishment "AKI." She stressed that "job creation and wealth generation continue to be the main goals of the Regional Government," noting that the Region has registered "a very significant increase in private investment."
In this context, the government official added that, so far, the new incentive systems, including Competir+, have registered the submission of more than 600 private investment projects. This represents a business investment over 290 million euros and the subsequent creation of more than 1,300 direct and permanent jobs.
"The ongoing partnership that the Government of the Azores has developed with entrepreneurs and investors will consolidate the increase in the disposable income of families, the increase in the Region's Gross Domestic Product, in addition to promoting employment growth and reducing unemployment levels," said the government official.
By 2018, the Government of the Azores estimates a public investment of 752 million Euros. It aims to promote this new cycle of development and growth in the Azorean economy as well as to continue fostering competitiveness and improve employability conditions.
Ana Cunha also pointed out that the amendment to the Legal Scheme on Public Procurement is under preparation, "taking into account the simplification and flexibility of procedures in the Region and an increase in expenditure efficiency."
"We want to continue contributing to the adequacy and sustainability of the construction industry. This will be achieved through investments in the qualification of public infrastructures, covering a wide range of domains, whether in the social area, in health or in the promotion of accessibility and mobility," said the Regional Secretary,
"You can count on the Government of the Azores to continue working hard in order to further enhance this favourable environment for the economic development of the Region as well as for the sustainability and dynamics of an entrepreneurial, innovative and prosperous business fabric," said Ana Cunha.
