BTL 2013 marks the beginning of new strategy to promote the Azores Destination

The Lisbon Tourism Market (BTL), which starts this Wednesday, marks the beginning of a new strategy to promote the Azores Destination, announced the Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport today.

Vítor Fraga revealed that this new strategy "relies on the promotion of the destination based on experiences and family tourism In fact, this strategy is targeted at a segment of the population aged between 35 and 45, families with children that greatly value experiences and emotions." The government official also added that the presence of the Azores at BTL will focus on these aspects.

In this edition of BTL, revealed Vítor Fraga, the Azores "will be actively represented by all private entities in the tourism sector with the aim of attracting, in a clearly commercial perspective, a specific niche market."

Speaking to journalists, the Regional Secretary mentioned the resizing of the space for the Azores at this event. "All islands will be represented in their own space where all products each island has to offer will be promoted in order to provide further information on each island and promote the diversity of our destination among tourism markets."

The presence of the Azores at BTL 2013 also "focuses on a commercial perspective" with the aim of "effectively selling the Azores Destination and tourism products to increase tourism flows to the Azores."

In addition, the Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport revealed that the promotion of national and international events in the archipelago will be awarded priority status, including SATA Rallye Açores, Red Bull Cliff Diving, European Surf championship and one of the phases of the World Surf championship. This strategy aims "to enhance the external projection of the Azores and the Azores Destination as well as to increase tourism flows associated to these events" to the Azores.
