The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has just opened an application to support the installation, operation and development of permanent information and communication technologies (ICT) spaces for public and free access to broadband Internet.
ICT Spaces are public places with free access to ICT and Internet, where the acquisition of basic ICT skills is promoted as well as the socialisation and integration of citizens into the Information and Knowledge Society.
This application aims to support the installation, operation and maintenance of public access ICT spaces and the improvement of their accessibility, providing alternative leisure activities to citizens in general and youngsters in an educational perspective.
The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures also intends to promote the organisation of training courses on ICT and facilitate the transfer of technological know-how.
Public local bodies from the Autonomous Region of the Azores and private non-profit entities based in the archipelago may apply for this measure.
Applications must be submitted to the Regional Directorate for Science, Technology and Communications, through the website http://www.azores.gov.pt/Gra/sctr/, until 5 PM (Azores local time) of December 31, 2011.
