Government supports people with disabilities in the acquisition of equipment and software
The Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures has opened an application for the acquisition of equipment and software in the area of information and communication technologies (ICT), an initiative aimed at the integration of citizens with disabilities in the Knowledge Society. This competition comprises people with physical, mental, visual and auditory disabilities as well as with profound multiple disabilities.
This measure aims to improve the access of citizens with disabilities to ICT as well as to promote the use of ICT as a support tool in their education, social and professional integration.
With this initiative, the Regional Secretariat for Science, Technology and Infrastructures intends to tackle digital divide by promoting equal opportunities in ICT access, fulfilling personal and social needs and the improving the quality of life for citizens with disabilities.
This measure is also intended to support the acquisition and installation costs of computers, printers and peripherals, specific computer components to support the different types of disability defined by the notice as well as the installation of basic software for using the specific equipments and software programmes.
Applications must be submitted to the Regional Directorate for Science, Technology and Communications until 12 AM of March 9.
