Government launches tender procedures for the preparation of the projects on Terceira Science and Technology Park
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport announced this morning that the Regional Government will launch the tender procedures for the preparation of the projects on the Terceira Science and Technology Park (PCTT) next month.
After visiting the Biotechnology Centre, installed in the future location of the PCTT, Vítor Fraga said to journalists that "according to the Regional Public Works Charter (CROP), this work is scheduled to start in the first semester of 2015 in terms of tender procedures."
The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Transport stressed that this "is a work of considerable size; it is a work that has to be carefully considered at a technical level, because what is most is most important is not the quantity of concrete the Park has, but its technical and technological infrastructures," which should "boost the activity of companies and the entities based here."
The government official recalled that according to the provisions of the Azorean Digital and Technological Agenda," the Government of the Azores aims to create a favourable ecosystem to the development of technology in order to enhance it as a key factor the generation of wealth for the Region."
For Vítor Fraga, "the Science and Technology Park to be built on the Island of Terceira will be a fundamental and structuring factor in the development of Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira and even of the Azores" since "technological development is one of the areas where the Azores may be effectively competitive on a global scale as we do not have context costs, particularly those related with transport."
